Ismail Elshafei

Founder & Energy Expert

Ismail Elshafei holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Khartoum, a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Industrial Management from the RVB Institute in Delft, Netherlands, and an M.Sc. in Energy Management from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, US. He is Ex Member of the Energy Institute, London, UK, Fellow under the Engineering Association, Khartoum, Sudan and holds Engineering Consultant Grade (EC) under the Engineering Council, Khartoum, Sudan.

Ismail Elshafei is a seasoned energy expert with over 30 years of experience in energy and industrial planning and development. He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Khartoum, a Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Management from the RVB Institute in Delft, Netherlands, and an M.Sc. in Energy Management from the University of Pennsylvania, USA. He is a former member of the Energy Institute, London, a Fellow of the Engineering Association in Khartoum, Sudan, and holds the Engineering Consultant Grade under the Engineering Council, Khartoum

Elshafei co-founded the Canadian Affordable Solution for Energy (CASE) in Ottawa, Canada, alongside Mr. Abdallaha Elnima. He also serves as an engineering consultant at Castell Engineering and Consulting in Doha, Qatar.

Previously, he was the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry in Sudan, where he spearheaded major initiatives such as the Sudan Industrial Strategy and a project to power the national industry using solar energy. During this time, he also founded the Sudan Energy Forum in Toronto, Canada.

From 2013 to 2016, Elshafei served as Adviser for Business Development at the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC). He led the consulting arm in identifying and promoting investment opportunities ranging from USD 5 million to over USD 100 million across the region, working closely with both public and private sectors. He is widely recognized as a leading authority on industrial investment in the region.

Before that, he led GOIC’s Industrial Subcontracting and Partnership Project (GSPX), creating the first GCC-wide subcontracting program and launching platforms like the Dubai Subcontracting Exchange (DSPX) under the Dubai Economic Department.

From 2003 to 2008, Elshafei focused on energy efficiency and sustainability, establishing services to support small and medium industries across the GCC. His work included hosting forums and collaborating with global organizations such as UNIDO and UNEP.

Between 2001 and 2003, he worked at Qatar Petroleum as a Senior Marketing Researcher, leading oil and petrochemical studies and preparing supply-demand forecasts for QP’s OPEC reporting.

Earlier in his career (1982–1992), Elshafei was a key national energy planner in Sudan and contributed to the feasibility study for the Abu Gabra oil field, exploring development options such as a mini refinery, direct burning, and grid integration.

A. Elnaimah is a seasoned executive with over two decades of leadership experience in energy, technology, and international business. As the Managing Director of Canadian Affordable Solutions for Energy Corp. (CASE), he is dedicated to providing innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable energy solutions for businesses and communities across Canada. Under his leadership, CASE has been at the forefront of delivering affordable energy alternatives, focusing on renewable energy integration, energy efficiency, and strategic cost-reduction initiatives for both residential and commercial clients.

Prior to founding CASE, A. Elnaimah held key leadership roles as Managing Director of Cosmofarma International and O.L.S, where he successfully led corporate expansions, optimized financial and operational strategies, and built high-performing teams. His ability to drive profitability and establish long-term business partnerships has been instrumental in the success of multiple enterprises across Canada, the UAE, and the UK.

With a strong foundation in IT administration from Croft International Limited, A. Elnaimah brings a technology-driven approach to the energy sector, leveraging automation, data analytics, and smart grid solutions to optimize energy consumption. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer and Information Systems Security from DeVry University, a Diploma in International Relations from the University of Khartoum, and a Postgraduate Certificate in International Business Management from Sheridan College. His training at Sheridan College enhanced his expertise in global trade, market entry strategies, and cross-cultural business operations, equipping him with the skills to navigate international markets and foster strategic global partnerships.
